MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
Benefits of Membership
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible, individuals must be interested in the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession and meet the standards described below.
Full Member/Member*
Those designated as member of the Maine Psychological Association must meet the following requirements:
Members are entitled to the rights and privileges of the Association without restriction.
*Includes discounted subcategories: Part-time Practicing, Retired, Post-doc, and Academic/Researcher.
Academician/Researcher Membership
Psychologists who are employed in a full-time faculty or research position and who do not engage in private practice.
Postdoc Membership
Those designated as Postdoc Members are completing postdoctoral training or a postdoctoral fellowship in psychology: a temporary period of mentored or supervised training to acquire the skills necessary for your chosen career path. Postdocs receive a 50% discount!
Associate Membership
Those designated as Associates of MePA must meet the following requirements:
Associates participate fully in all Association business and may have voting privileges after five (5) consecutive years in the status of Associate membership, but they may not hold an elective office in the Association.
Affiliate Membership
Those who do not possess all the necessary qualifications to be Associates or Members but who support the goals of the Association.
Affiliates may not represent themselves as Fellows, Members, or Associates of the Association.
Student Membership
Graduate or undergraduate students in a psychology program at an accredited college or university.

| Affiliate | $75 | Those who do not possess all the necessary qualifications to be Associates or Members. Students outside of the state of Maine. |

| Student | $0 | Graduate or undergraduate students in a psychology program at an accredited college or university within the state of Maine. |
| Organizations | 25% discount | Organizations with five or more psychologists who meet the qualifications of a Member are eligible for a 25% discount on all member dues. Organizations must register and pay for their group members together to qualify. First-year members and post-doc members are not eligible for this additional discount. DEDUCTIBILITY
Association dues are not deductible as a charitable contribution, but may be deducted as an ordinary business expense. MePA estimates that 30% of dues will be allocated to lobbying expenditures, and are not deductible for federal income tax purposes. IRC Sec 162(e)(3).
